Through detailed drawings of the female figure devoid of setting, I navigate the psychological alienation of the self-generated from constantly being watched by and performing for others. I purposefully create tension by juxtaposing highly detailed female figures against an empty white expanse of paper. Each drawing subtly twists stereotypical tropes of women by the incorporation of cliche feminine costuming. Meanwhile, the viewer imposes their own gaze upon the figure. This relationship creates another dimension of scrutiny and adds to the figure’s dissociative quality.
